7th Grade Science

3/27/12 The 7th graders are working on a weather report project. Most groups have chosen to use Trinity's green screens and make their weather reports on iMovie. Here is a link to the project. The project is due on Thursday at the beginning of class. Below is a photo of Carson and Aisha working on the project.

Hi 7th graders - Here's a link to the NES terms that are due on Monday, Jan 30, 2012.
Hi 7th graders! - Here are the links to your newest homework handout, the extra credit handout that I passed out before Christmas and your Sphere of Influence assignment sheet.  Let me know if you have any questions - Mrs. Wilson

12/7/11  Carter Macon Rudisill arrived today at 2:42 am.  She's 7 pounds and 19 inches long.  Everyone is doing well!

Rubric for the Ecocolumn Paper

11/9/11 Hi! Here is a new link to help you understand how to put in data into excel and then import the table and graph into excel.  This is step by step of what we have done in class.

Here is the updated paper as of today.  Of course, this paper is not as well done as your paper will be. :)

11/8/2011 Here is a link to show you how to convert your data from a data table in excel to a graph in excel. It also shows you how to transfer the info from excel to word.  For tomorrow, you should have your data in a table and in a graph within your paper. The data table goes in the observation section and the graph goes in the analysis section. Look at my 11/7 post of the paper to see an example of the analysis section. Remember that today we added two more required tables and graphs. The required data is the fish count, snail count, water level and temperature until we added the geosphere. Good luck!

11/7/2011 The Ecocolumn Paper is well on its way. Here are a few helpful links. The first link is an example of the data table and the graph in excel. The second example is the paper updated to 11/7, of course, your paper is better than mine. I only have 1 observation and a little bit of data on my table and thus a small graph. Your paper, like this one, should have the correct heading, a hypothesis, introduction, materials, observations and data collection, analysis and conclusion. The last part is on its on page and it is called a works cited page.

Remember that the paper is due on Friday for those who would like it on this trimester's report. For those who want it as the first grade of trimester two, can turn it in on Monday.

Good Luck!

10/14/11 - The 7th graders are working hard on their ecocolumns. So far, we have had many fish casualties and a few plants not make it. Our snails populations seem to be hanging on. We are using Chapter 12 in our book as a reference to all that we are studying in our bottles. We will have a test on Chapter 12 (including photosynthesis) on Wednesday, October 26. I am available to help on Thursdays from 7:15 to 7:45 as needed and am happy to help in the afternoons....send me an email. :) M

10/27/10 - Ecocolumn...is the name of the game for 7th grade science right now. Students make observations daily on the goings on of their ecocolumn. We have seen populations of fish go from 11 to 6 in a week resulting in great conversations about limited resources such as food and living space. We have been investigating photosynthesis very intensely and now are focusing on cellular respiration. Our next step in the ecocolumn project will be adding a second layer to our ecocolumn called the geosphere. In the geosphere we will attempt to grow a cutting from a wandering jew plant. We will then seal the bottle and watch as the water cycle begins in both levels of the bottle.
